Pass the Challenge:
With a Plan

Passing an evaluation takes a process that holds up across five or more trading days, and this guide shows how to build one around the Pivex rules.

Why Trading Skill Alone Is Not Enough

A trader can be profitable over months and still struggle in an evaluation. The reason is usually structure, not skill. A fixed daily limit, a static maximum loss and a consistency rule leave little room for the large swings a personal account might absorb.

The answer is a process you can repeat on any day, whatever the market does. The sections below build one piece at a time, using the Pivex rules as the frame.

How to Pass a Prop Firm Challenge:
Build a Repeatable Process

A repeatable process means the same few decisions, made the same way, in every session. Write each one down before the Challenge starts, so you are not deciding under pressure.

  1. 1Define your setupsList the two or three setups you trade, with the market, the timeframe and the conditions for each. If a trade does not match one of them, you skip it.
  2. 2Fix your risk per tradePick a percentage of the account and keep it for the whole Challenge. On a $50K account, 0.5% is $250, so the $2,000 daily limit allows eight full losses before the day is over.
  3. 3Set a personal daily stopStop trading for the day well before the 4% limit, for example after losing 2%. That leaves a buffer for slippage and protects the static maximum loss for the days ahead.
  4. 4Plan your sessionsChoose when you trade. Forex runs 24 hours a day, five days a week, across the Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York sessions, but you only need the hours that suit your setups.
  5. 5Review every dayLog each trade and compare it with your plan. The question is not only whether a trade won, but whether you followed the process.

Use the 5 Trading Days and the Consistency Rule to Your Advantage

The Challenge asks for at least 5 trading days with at least one trade each, and your largest trading day must stay under 50% of total profit. Read together, these two rules reward a steady pace over a single big win.

Think of the 10% target as a sum of ordinary days. On a $100K account, the target is $10,000. If you plan for a best day well under $5,000, the consistency rule takes care of itself, and five or more trading days follow naturally.

Round-number examples to show how the rule works, not targets or predictions.

Plan Around the 00:00 UTC Daily Limit Renewal

The 4% daily loss limit renews every trading day at 00:00 UTC. In London, that is midnight in winter and 1:00 in the morning in summer. In New York, it is 7:00 or 8:00 in the evening, depending on daylight saving time, and in Tokyo it is 9:00 in the morning.

Your own trading day and the Pivex trading day may not line up. Plan your daily stop around the UTC renewal rather than your local midnight, so you always know how much room is left and when it resets.

  • Write the renewal time in your local time zone at the top of your trading plan.
  • Check the dashboard before each session to see where you stand against every limit.
  • Keep the daily limit renewal separate in your mind from the swap rollover around 21:00 UTC, when overnight financing applies to open positions.
  • Remember that a triple swap applies on Wednesdays on Match-Trader if you hold positions through the rollover.

Pick Your Account Size

Choosing a Size From $25K to $100K

If you already trade but have not passed an evaluation, $25K to $100K is a sensible range to consider. The rules are identical on every size, so the real question is how your usual position and stop fit inside the limits, and which price fits your budget.

Dollar values shown for the starting balance. The dashboard shows the live limits on your account.
Account sizeProfit target (10%)Daily loss limit (4%)Maximum loss (6%)
$25K$2,500$1,000$1,500
$50K$5,000$2,000$3,000
$100K$10,000$4,000$6,000

Pick the size where one normal loss is a small slice of the daily limit. Moving up in size does not change the percentages, only the dollars and the price. If your process has not yet held up across a full Challenge, a mid-range size lets you test it without stretching your budget.

Membership and a Fresh Start

While you refine your process, how you pay matters as much as which size you choose. Membership is built for a steady rhythm.

FeatureMembership
PaymentMonthly, renews every 30 days
AccountsA new Challenge account every billing cycle
Accounts not started yetSaved as credits for 3 months
After crossing a loss limitActivate a saved credit instead of paying again
InactivityNo inactivity rule during the Challenge
Sizes$10K, $25K, $50K, $100K

Membership suits a steady learning rhythm: each cycle brings a new account, and a saved credit means a broken limit does not have to mean a new payment. It also includes Daily Loss Protection, which closes open positions and pauses trading on that account if it loses 3% in one day, once per account. Billing stops when you pass the Challenge and complete verification.

Journaling and Review

The journal is where a process gets better. Without it, you remember the big wins and the painful losses and forget the ordinary trades that make up most of the result.

  • Record the date, market, setup, entry, stop, target, size and result, plus whether the trade followed your plan.
  • Tag each trade with its session (Sydney, Tokyo, London or New York) to see where your results come from.
  • Track the rules themselves: your largest day as a share of total profit, and your worst day against the 4% limit.
  • Review once a week, change one thing at a time, and give each change at least a week before you judge it.

Review is also how you decide when to move up. When your journal shows several weeks of steady days and controlled losses, a larger account and the professional guide become the natural next step.

Reach the 10% profit target within the rules, and the Challenge is passed.

Close all trades when the target is reached. An Upgrade Account banner then appears in your dashboard: you request the upgrade, the team reviews the account, and you accept the Trader Agreement and verify your identity with a government photo ID and a selfie.

At the Pivex Trader stage there is no profit target, but the same loss limits, the 5 trading day minimum and the consistency rule apply. The reward split is 80%. At this stage, trades are not opened or closed in the 5 minutes before and after a high-impact release, so plan your news days before you carry your Challenge process forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most useful tip for passing a prop firm Challenge?

Fix your risk per trade and a personal daily stop before you start, and keep both for the whole Challenge. One oversized day tends to do more damage than a weak setup.

How does the consistency rule work?

Your largest trading day must stay under 50% of total profit. On a $100K account with $10,000 in profit, that means your best day stays below $5,000.

When does the daily loss limit reset?

The 4% daily loss limit renews every trading day at 00:00 UTC.

Is there a time limit on the Challenge?

No. There is no time limit, but you need at least 5 trading days with at least one trade each.

Can I trade the news during the Challenge?

Yes. News trading is allowed in the Challenge. At the Pivex Trader stage, trades are not opened or closed in the 5 minutes before and after a high-impact release.

Does Membership help if I need a fresh start?

Yes. Membership adds a new account every 30 days and saves accounts you have not started as credits for 3 months, so after a loss limit you can activate a saved credit instead of paying again.

Can I hold positions overnight?

Yes. Holding trades overnight and over the weekend is allowed. Swaps apply when a position is held past the daily rollover around 21:00 UTC.

Put Your Process to Work

Choose a size from $25K to $100K, write your rules before the first trade, and take the Challenge at a pace you can repeat.
